From ADAS to AD: Enabling the Disruption

Stefan-Alexander Schneider

Speaker

  • University of Applied Sciences in Kempten
  • Faculty of Electrical Engineering
  • Prof. Dr. rer. nat.
  • Stefan-Alexander Schneider
Summary

CAE methods and their tools are widely used in the automotive industry. In fact, their use has enabled the carmakers to reduce product development cost and time while improving the safety, comfort, and durability of the vehicles they produce. In order to cope with this development speed in the future, more and more software functions for sensing, perceiving, referencing… must be implemented and integrated in CAE tools in the same development cycles. This is an enormous challenge, especially for ADAS and AD functions. Therefore, standardization for all these functions are key activities to cope with the competitors. This presentation gives an overview about the landscape of standardization like Open Simulation Interface, Open Drive and Open Scenario and the role of sensor and the key role of sensor behavior models.
